Slam, dunks, lay ups and three pointers have made a welcome return to Garbally College after a number of years absence.

Garbally Colleges’ U-16 Basketball team competed with some success in the South Connacht section of the league.  The Alova twins, Harold and Wayne,  were the stars of the show with 40 of the 44 points in a narrow opening defeat to St. Raphaels in Loughrea – 46-44.

The second game ended in victory for Garbally 27-20 against Archbishop McHale Tuam.  Again the Alove twins impressed along with Conor Barrett and Alex Szaloki.

Basketball is growing in popularity as a lunchtime activity with the introduction of the new court and it is hoped to establish first and second year teams to join the U-16s for next season.  This will be aided by the improvements made in the sports complex including new court markings and two sets of practice hoops and nets.
